Carol Service 2010

The Christmas holidays began with a candlelit carol service at Belton Church. Traditional carols blended in with the puppets and a modern retelling of the nativity story - the 'Digital nativity'. It was good to focus on the birth of Jesus, and a simple question was raised by two very similar Christmas trees either side of the Church. Both decorated with tinsel and baubles, both lit with lights - but one was planted in soil, the other just sawn off. What will our Christmas be like - a celebration for a moment, that will be over before the last needle has fallen from the tree? or a celebration rooted in a relationship with Jesus, a relationship that will live and grow and strengthen throughout the rest of the year?

The Church was full to overflowing, with additional seats needed. A big thank you to everyone who came and braved the weather, the lack of heat and the mulled wine!

Christmas/New Year 2011-12

6 months ago, the idea of being “in by Christmas” seemed to be very unlikely, but thanks to a lot of hard work and planning, approximately 6 weeks before Christmas, major work started happening in the church including new lights, new heating, new floor, moving the font, and a lot more work! This work meant that we were able to hold our Christmas Carol Service in a warm and welcoming building (a service of around 150 people), and also on Christmas Day (around 70 people).

Although there is still work to be done in Belton Church, the vast amount of heavy building work has been done, and the church now meets in the building weekly at 10:30am on Sunday, and the building is also being used for a variety of other groups and activities throughout the week. Thank you to all who helped make this happen!
